How to Create an Endpoint Group

An Endpoint Group is essentially a SIP trunk. This allows you to connect your PBX to our network so you can send and receive VoIP calls. To create a new Endpoint Group:

Under the Endpoints tab, select Endpoint Group Management.

On the resulting page, click the Add Endpoint Group link (additional IP addresses can be added to an existing group once created).

After clicking the Add Endpoint Group link, you will be asked to choose a Name for your endpoint group, and a Group Type.

For the Group Type, you may choose from the following options:

  • IP Peering - Choose this to use IP-based authentication. You will then enter the static IP address(es) of your PBX.

  • Sangoma PBX - This option will allow you to easily connect a Sangoma PBX such as FreePBX, PBXact, or Switchvox.

To create an Endpoint Group with IP Peering, fill out the following information:

Name – This is simply a friendly name for the group/trunk.

Server & Port – This is the static IP address of the device/PBX you will be using for voice calls. The default SIP signaling port is 5060 for UDP (must be 5061 for TCP), but you may choose a different UDP port, if you like.

Term Rate – This is the per-minute rate deck you would like to use for this endpoint group.

Transport Type – This affects how we will route calls to and from your network. You may choose UDP or TCP. This setting cannot be changed after the endpoint group is created.

VI Server – These are the SIP Signaling IP addresses that you may use. In most cases, you can choose Primary unless you are using our Advanced Server Configuration.

Robocall Mitigation – You may opt in or out of our Robocall Mitigation feature.

Inbound STIR/SHAKEN Handling – This refers to STIR/SHAKEN inbound verification results. You may choose verstat or header:

verstat - Sends information in P-Asserted-Identity about the status of the verification of the call

header - Sends the entire STIR/SHAKEN header (TCP Transport Type recommended)

Strip Plus and Strip Country Code – This affects how we send inbound calls to your network. If both boxes are checked, we will exclude the “+” sign and country code in the SIP INVITE.

For example, if both boxes are checked, we will send you inbound calls like this: 5559417824
If both boxes are un-checked, we will send the call to your network as: +15559417824

Please note that the country code cannot be stripped without stripping the plus as well. Additionally, if an international DID is assigned to an Endpoint Group, the Plus or the Country Code cannot be stripped.

Prepend Digits – This field adds additional digits to the beginning of the DID for inbound calls. For example, if you have a prepend of “1234” and your DID is 5559417824, we would send the call to your network as “12345559417824”.

Once the form has been completed, click the Add Endpoint Group button to finalize your settings.
