Thirdlane PBX Trunk Configuration

Step 1: Begin by selecting "Trunks" from the menu under "Cluster Management", then click "Create SIP trunk".

Step 2: Fill out trunk settings. Since VoIP Innovations uses multiple SIP signaling IP addresses, we will begin by creating a trunk for outbound calls. You may want to name the trunk something such as "voipinnovations-outbound", Enter our IP address for outbound conversational traffic, 64.136.174.30 (or 64.136.174.35 if you are sending short-duration/dialer traffic). These IP addresses are also used as a backup for inbound, so we are choosing
"Inbound/Outbound" for the direction. VoIP Innovations uses IP-based authentication only, so User name

  • Password are not required. For this reason, it is also not necessary to enter a registration string. Fill out the rest of the settings as shown in the picture below, then click "Save".

Step 3: Creating outbound routes. From the menu, expand "Routes" and then select "Outbound
Routes". Now, click "Create Outbound Route".

Step 4: Fill out outbound routes information as pictured below. You will want to ensure that your outbound trunk is selected. If you are sending outbound conversational traffic, it will be your trunk with IP address 64.136.174.30. If you are running short-duration/dialer traffic, it will be your trunk that is configured for 64.136.174.35. Lastly, click "Save".

When you are finished your outbound routes, page should look something like the picture below, which is configured for 911 (Emergency), international, and domestic outbound patterns.

You may also mass select your outbound routes by using the check box in the top-left corner as pictured below. This will select all outbound route patterns. You may also select them individually using the check boxes to the left of each rule. From here, you may use the "Assign" button at the bottom to assign them to a trunk.

Step 5: Create an inbound trunk. Click "Trunks" from the main menu, then "Create SIP trunk".

This time, we will enter VoIP Innovations' primary IP address for inbound traffic
(64.136.173.31). You will likely want to name this trunk something that will remind you that it is for inbound. Fill out the settings as pictured below, and click "Save".

Step 6: Creating inbound routes. From the main menu, expand "Routes", then click "Create Time Based Routes Group".

Enter your DID and fill out your inbound route as desired. Below are some sample settings. Please keep in mind that your inbound route will need to match the way we are sending you the SIP INVITE.

When finished, your inbound route should look something like this:

That's it! You should now be ready to place and receive calls through VoIP Innovations!

Additional information:
VoIP Innovations will send traffic to you for DIDs in 10, 11, or 12 digits. For example, if you used
DID 2052163165 with us, then we could send the DID to you in one of three ways:

  • 2052163165

  • 12052163165

  • +12052163165

The way we send traffic to you is managed in our Back Office under Endpoint > Endpoint Group Management. For more information, please see our Wiki article on this subject. If your inbound route matches the way we are sending you traffic, you should be fine.
Please note that other IP addresses may be necessary to configure. Below is a list of all the IP addresses that we use. To cover all bases, we recommend creating a SIP trunk for each of these
