How To Enable / Disable CNAM

VoIP Innovations offers both inbound and outbound CNAM options. Outbound CNAM or Outbound Caller ID, is referred to as CNAM Storage. Inbound CNAM refers to dips done on inbound calls. This article outlines how to mass update a selection of DIDs to turn off/on inbound CNAM dips.
To turn inbound CNAM on or off for one specific DID, select the DIDs tab and then select Manage DIDs and locate the desired number using the available search filters.

Once the number is located, click the 'Pen & Paper' button to open the DID Configuration Wizard. Set the radio button under 'CNAM Lookup' to 'Enabled' and then click 'Save Changes'.

After a 15 – 20-minute propagation period, inbound CNAM dips will be received when the DID is called.

A quick snapshot of DIDs currently configured with/without CNAM can be found by selecting the DIDs tab and select Manage DIDs and set the CNAM (In) radio button to 'On'. It will display all DIDs that have inbound CNAM enabled.

To affect multiple numbers at once for inbound dips, select the DIDs tab and choose 'CNAM' under the Bulk Update Tools. This page contains all DIDs on the account in sequential order.

Use the options at the bottom of the resulting page to cycle through your list of DIDs. DIDs that already have CNAM enabled will have a check mark in the box to the left of the number.

Turn CNAM on/off for any number in the list by selecting or deselecting the checkbox to the left of the number and clicking the 'Update CNAM' button at the bottom of the page.

Once a check mark is placed in the box, the DID automatically becomes bold but no change will occur unless the 'Update CNAM' button is clicked. As with most changes of this type, propagation time is necessary before the change takes effect.

The CNAM Parser tab under Bulk Update Tools can also be used to update the CNAM. Enter the DIDs that need the CNAM either turned on or off into the Bulk CNAM Update. When entering the DIDs, do not include dashes or special symbols. After all the DIDs are entered, click the on or off button and click update.
