VoIP Innovations offers high-quality international termination to fixed and mobile destinations across the world. Our A-Z International Wholesale Termination provides calling access to over 200 countries and thousands of destinations.
The absolute FIRST thing you should do before enabling international calling on your account is to ensure your PBX is secured. Failure to secure your PBX could result in thousands of dollars of fraudulent charges on your account that you would be responsible for. We offer this article in regards to VoIP security to get you thinking correctly: VoIP Security. An additional article can be found here. Remember that you are responsible for the traffic coming from your IP address no matter who you send the traffic to.
By default, all customers have the international rate deck assigned to their account. But if for some reason you do not, please contact your account rep to have it added.
You can reach our Sales department at 877-478-6471 option #1.
In order to terminate international calls from your account, you will need to enable a radio button in the Back Office from the Endpoint Group Management tab. Simply click, Endpoints and select Endpoint Group Management from the drop down options. The resulting page will list ALL Endpoint Groups on your account. Drill down into the desired group by clicking the name of the group you wish to alter. You will see International Settings and from here, you will toggle International ON/OFF. After you toggle on, you will be required to set a Spend Limit. This the daily total spend that you allow this group to terminate international calls. There is also a Rate Allowance that customers can set on their endpoint group. This is a price per minute that you wish to allow for customers to call. This is not a requirement, but allows you to set this, to prevent high priced calls. Please note, setting no limit still has potential to be rejected by our vendor for pricing. *Note that there are several 'Update' buttons on this page. It is only necessary to click this one button to turn on (or off) international calling ability* Please also note that there is
typically a 10-15-minute propagation period from when you click the update button before the change will take effect.
One thing to remember when terminating calls to VI is that we look for the lowest Endpoint Group number for the call. This means that if you have the same IP address in more than one group, we look for the lowest group number and that is the group the call comes from. For example, if you had group 10013 and group 10016 you would need to set the radio button for group 10013 to use international. There is an Advanced Server Configuration option for two groups with the same IP so be sure and check out that article if it applies to you.
Another option we have for multiple endpoint groups, that share the same IP, would be our Tech Prefix feature. This allows you to all a prepend in front of calls so our system will terminate calls from that group. Please see our Wiki Article for more information.
To place an outbound international call, you will need to prepend "011" to your calls when sending them to VoIP Innovations. The full syntax should look like this: 011 + country code + international telephone number (for example, 011441462490068).
One thing you will want to remember is that Country Code (1) destinations do not require the 011 prepend to complete, but you will still need to enable international termination on your endpoint group(s) in order to call these countries. Below is a sampling of country code 1 destinations that are still considered international calls:

If you would like to check the rate for an international destination, navigate to Term > Tools > Rate Query Tool. Change the Rate Deck to one of your international rate decks, and type in the international number prepended with 011. Clicking "Get Rate" will return the pricing for that destination. If you see "Rate Not Found", then we do not have a rate/route for that destination. Please refer to your rate deck for the final word as to if we have a rate/route for a specific destination. To view your rate deck, navigate to Billing > Packages and Pricing > Termination and click the XLS or CSV buttons next to the rate deck that you wish to view.
*Please note that we do not guarantee completion of calls over $0.50/minute. You may see rates
higher than that amount returned, but we do not guarantee that route's completion*
To Enable or Disable International ability on your account, click the Endpoints tab and select Endpoint Group Management.
Click the name of the group that you wish to edit. The names for this example will look different than what is on your account.
Click the radio button to 'On' (or 'Off') and set what you want the Spend Limit to be. You also have the ability to set a Per Rate Allowance on calls. This is not required to enable international. Changing the radio button and clicking the correct button will result in a confirmation that the change was made correctly.
